NJWLA’s 11th Annual
WILL Platinum Gala
The New Jersey Women Lawyers Association (NJWLA) held its 11th Annual Women’s Initiative and Leaders in the Law (WILL) Platinum Gala on March 20, at The Grove in Cedar Grove, NJ. More than 600 people were in attendance.
NJWLA proudly recognized six extraordinary women, awarding five WILL Platinum Awards and one Trailblazer award, for their outstanding achievements in the legal profession. This year’s WILL award recipients were the Honorable Kathryn C. Ferguson, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of NJ; the Honorable Harriet Farber Klein, (Retired), of counsel at Wilson Elser; Galit Kierkut, Member, Sills Cummis & Gross PC and Past President of NJWLA; Dean Kathleen Boozang, Dean and Professor of Law at Seton Hall University School of Law; and the Honorable Esther Suarez, Prosecutor, Hudson County. This year’s Trailblazer Award was given to Lorraine Gerson, Assistant United States Attorney.
Representing members of the judiciary and the public and private sectors, the award recipients were individually lauded for contributing to the advancement of women in the legal profession and for serving as role models for women lawyers of all ages and backgrounds. The Honorable Madeline Cox Arleo, United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey, served as the Mistress of Ceremonies.
Annmarie Simeone, NJWLA’s President and Member at Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., provided opening remarks to a sold-out room and noted the association’s continued commitment to recognizing women lawyers and judges who have made groundbreaking contributions in their respective areas of the law.
In addition, she acknowledged NJWLA’s law student scholarship program as well as the grants awarded to worthwhile organizations aligned with the NJWLA mission. The NJWLA awarded $25,000 in grants to its 2018 Grant Recipients:
