Tax Attorney

Nee Plata Law LLC is seeking a Tax Attorney to join our growing practice in Roseland, New Jersey. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and develop experience and expertise in a specialized field of project finance law. There will be plenty of opportunity for growth and advancement for the right candidate.

Nee Plata Law attorneys work collaboratively through a team approach. New attorneys will be trained to work on multiple transactions with senior attorneys and become integral members of the firm. This position is focused on tax and transactional law with a strong emphasis on federal and state tax credits, Section 103, and partnership tax.  We are only considering candidates that have at least 1-2 years law firm experience, a license to practice in New Jersey and an LLM in Taxation.

Our firm is a women and minority owned firm that has specialized practice areas that include redevelopment law, tax, structured finance, land use and tax credits. These practice areas allow us to assist our clients with their development finance needs in a fairly comprehensive manner both on a local and national level helping to build and rebuild communities. We represent developers, government entities, non-profits and financial institutions. We emphasize professionalism in all of our work and strive to be current on all changes to the laws and regulations. We are seeking a tax
associate who is interested in developing an expertise in these areas and is willing and able to start helping us with our immediate needs.

Successful candidates should have the following:

  • LLM in Taxation.
  • Experience in partnership tax, tax credits and/or Section 103 is a plus.
  • Strong legal research background and training.
  • Highly developed writing experience in transactional matters. Experience with financial and loan closings is a plus.
  • Interest in learning a discreet but growing aspect of development finance and tax incentives.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong sense of professionalism and work ethic.
  • Self-awareness about strengths and weaknesses and a willingness to grow as an attorney.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both inside and outside of the firm.
  • Sense of humor and humility.
  • Interest in helping a small, growing firm become a large practice with a national brand.
  • Strong sense of customer service to clients and respect for staff and vendors.
