Disability Rights New Jersey is the designated protection and advocacy agency for people with disabilities in the diverse state of New Jersey, providing individual and systemic advocacy and legal representation, training and technical assistance and outreach in order to protect legal, civil, and human rights.
Disability Rights NJ is seeking three attorneys. Two positions will be permanent positions. The first will be assigned to the community inclusion team and will work on issues involving community services for individuals with disabilities including Medicaid home and community waivers, DDD support services, ADA and housing. The second position will be assigned to the employment team and will involve issues regarding vocational rehabilitation services, employment accommodations and employment
discrimination and may have supervisory potential. The final position will be a 2-year contract position which will focus on legal advocacy to access assistive technology.
An attorney candidate must have a law degree, be licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey and have one year of experience as a practicing attorney in a disability or public interest related area. For a senior position, a candidate must have a minimum of five years experience in public interest/civil rights practice, including two years of complex litigation. For a supervisory/managerial attorney position, a candidate must have two
years of supervisory experience in addition to the requirements of a senior position.
