Deputy Attorney General 1 (Section Chief) – Division of Law

An opportunity currently exists in the unclassified service with the Department of Law & Public Safety, Division of Law, for applicants who meet the requirements specified below:
TITLE: Deputy Attorney General 1 (Section Chief)
SALARY: $91,735.50 to $128,425.42
(Departmental salary cap at $128,000.00)

LOCATION: Division of Law
Department of Children & Families Practice Group
Department of Children & Families Central Section
Trenton, NJ

NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE: One (1)
DUTIES: Under the supervision of Assistant Attorneys General in the Department of Children & Families Practice
Group in Trenton, provides counsel and representation to all of the Section’s clients; will oversee the Section; plans
and manages the supervision and operations of the Section; assigns matters and supervises all Deputy Attorneys
General in the Section; evaluates the performance of assigned Deputy Attorneys General; conducts case file reviews;
performs other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor. Admission to practice as an
Attorney at Law in the State of New Jersey is required.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience as a practicing attorney, two (2) years of which shall have been in a
supervisory capacity.
LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a
vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
PREFERENCE: Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in the areas of litigation, child abuse
and neglect, termination of parental rights, administrative law, and/or licensing and employment law.

who possess foreign degrees (degrees earned outside of the U.S.) are required to provide an evaluation indicating
