On Monday, March 15, 2021, NJWLA celebrated Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s 88th Birthday with a CLE Program entitled Carrying the Torch Forward where we focused on Justice Ginsburg’s legacy, what her work has helped us achieve and what we still need to do. Attendees appeared wearing their best RBG inspired attire and we had a spirited RBG Trivia Contest! We especially thank our Moderator, President-Elect Dina Mastellone, and our esteemed Panelists Penny M. Venetis, Esq., Clinical Professor of Law and Director, International Human Rights Clinic, Rutgers Law School, Rachel Wainer Apter, Esq., Director, New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, and NJWLA Past President Kirsten S. Branigan, Esq., Founder, KSBranigan Law, P.C., for sharing how Justice Ginsburg’s work permeates our various practices and everyday lives, including how she shaped Rutgers Law School, her role as a mentor and teacher, and her legacy.
During the event, we also congratulated Rachel Wainer Apter on Governor Murphy’s announcement of his Intention to Nominate her to become the next Associate Justice on the New Jersey Supreme Court. NJWLA wholeheartedly supports Governor Murphy’s anticipated nomination of this dedicated, experienced, and exceptionally qualified woman to our State’s highest court.
