DUTIES: The Environmental Enforcement & Environmental Justice Section provides representation to the Department of Environmental Protection and other State agencies and commissions in federal and State court and administrative litigation to enforce a wide range of federal and State environmental laws. The Clean Air Unit of the section is dedicated to the enforcement of the Federal Clean Air Act, including enforcement actions brought in concert with other states and the federal government against coal-fired plants in New Jersey and other states. This section is part of the Affirmative Civil Enforcement (“ACE”) Practice Group promoting its efforts in the areas of Cost Recovery and Natural Resource Damages cases as well as other federal-facing and multi-State litigation. The Assistant Attorney General for this section will work with other section leaders and the ACE Practice Group leadership in decision making and daily operations of the section.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor. Admission to practice as an Attorney-at-Law in the State of New Jersey is required.
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of professional legal experience as an attorney at law of the State of New Jersey in the area of the specialty or, three years of professional legal experience as an attorney for State or Federal administrative agencies which shall have involved a significant amount of the specialized legal work, or, two years of unique specialized legal experience.
LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
