The members of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association (NJWLA) extend their sincere congratulations to Judge Madeline Cox Arleo on her being confirmed as a United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey.
Judge Arleo’s distinguished judicial career began in 1989 when she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Marie Garibaldi of the New Jersey Supreme Court. She then worked as an associate and partner at Clapp Eisenberg as well as Barry & McMoran before joining Tompkins, McGuire, Wachenfeld and Barry as a litigation partner. Judge Arleo was appointed as a United States Magistrate Judge in December 2000.
Judge Arleo is highly regarded for her strong legal and case management skills as well as the respect, fairness, and courtesy she shows all litigants and attorneys.
Judge Arleo has also served as a strong role model for women, serving as a role model and leader for women in the law and demonstrating the heights that we can all achieve. For the past several years, Judge Arleo has served as Mistress of Ceremonies at the NJWLA Women’s Initiative and Leaders in the Law (WILL) Platinum Gala, at which NJWLA honors leaders of the bench and bar. Judge Arleo is also a past recipient of the federal judiciary NJWLA WILL Platinum Award.
