About the Essex County Family Justice Center
The Essex County Family Justice Center (FJC) is a free and confidential walk-in center for victims of domestic violence and the only Family Justice Center in New Jersey. Family Justice Centers meet the diverse needs of victims by bringing government, law enforcement, social service and community agencies together in a single location to coordinate comprehensive service delivery. Victims of domestic violence can now come to one location to receive help.
FJC staff and partner agencies work together to coordinate referrals for emergency shelter, emergency food and transportation assistance, help filing for an emergency TRO, assistance from law enforcement professionals from the Essex County Prosecutor’s office and Newark Police Department, crisis intervention and enhanced safety planning, support groups and counseling, and civil legal and immigration assistance. This victim-centered approach is designed to reduce barriers to getting help and counteract the fragmentation of existing services.
A Request for Help this Holiday Season
This Holiday Season, the Essex County Family Justice Center (FJC) would be most grateful for donations of gift cards to Walmart or to a grocery store like Pathmark or ShopRite in denominations of $25 or less.
For clients, who are often in crisis when they work with the FJC, providing them with gift cards allows the FJC to meet the diverse demand for help at this time of the year. These gift cards will be distributed to our clients so that they can plan a holiday celebration that meets their individual needs and reflects their family traditions, or, if their situation requires, to meet basic needs for food, toiletries, baby supplies, etc. |
