Legal Services of New Jersey, an Edison-based statewide non-profit that provides free civil legal assistance to low income New Jerseyans, has an immediate opening as part of its PROTECT project, a major initiative aiding victims of human trafficking.
PROTECT advises and represents victims of both sex and labor trafficking, primarily in immigration matters and engages in outreach and training throughout the state of New Jersey. PROTECT also works closely with law enforcement and other stakeholders on the state and federal level.
We will consider individuals with various level of relevant legal experience; those with expertise working with victims of trafficking and immigration as well as attorneys with a general orientation to civil legal issues and experience working with low-income and vulnerable populations of diverse ethnicities and nationalities. The attorney should have and a background or willingness to learn immigration law specifically T-visa and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status cases with a focus on victims who are currently in removal proceedings. Fluency in Spanish or another language is not required but highly desirable.
