Tax Specialist 3

The New Jersey Department of the Treasury, Division of Taxation, located in Trenton, New Jersey seeks Tax Specialists to provide information and guidance regarding New Jersey’s tax laws to the general public, tax professionals and Division of Taxation staff.

Tax Specialists will also research the Division’s technical, legal and regulatory issues, and provide administrative and enforcement advice. Tax Specialists may also draft new legislation, review proposed legislation and prepare comments, and draft rules and regulations for the implementation of tax laws.

SALARY: Starting salary is $61,058.29. A comprehensive benefits package is offered.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate degree. Advanced degree in taxation or tax law preferred.

NOTE FOR FOREIGN DEGREES: Degrees and/or transcripts issued by a college or university outside of the United States must be evaluated for accreditation by a reputable evaluation service at your expense. The evaluation must be included with your submission. Failure to submit the required evaluation may result in an ineligibility determination.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in tax law research in a regulatory or business setting, or in the interpretation of Federal or State income tax rules, laws and regulations, which may include income tax preparation.
